Specialty gases are offered in a variety of forms. The most
common would be compressed gas cylinders, with the properties of the gas as
deciding point on availability. The most popular cylinders are constructed of
chromium-molybdenum steel,
aluminium, or a composite depending on the properties of the gas, as well as the
application. Cylinders sizes vary in both dimension, as well as internal volume, with
capacity ranging from less than 1 to over 100 litres. However, when filled under
pressure, the content in a cylinder can be in thousands of litres. Cylinder availability
is subject to the product properties, desired pressure and legislative requirements.
Besides cylinders, another supply form are gas generators. The specialty gas generators
that Linde offers produce hydrogen, nitrogen or zero air. Generators are frequently used
as an easy and efficient supply source in laboratory environments with a constant gas
demand.
For liquiefied air products such as Nitrogen, Argon or Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide supply
containers would include portable cryogenic containers and dewars. Linde offers a
special supply service for such liquefied substances, called CRYOSPEED®
Regulatory Requirements:
Gas cylinders are considered pressure
vessels, and therefore governed by local authority rules and regulations. Some are
non-returnable and others are recyclable.
